Family Service Centres

The nearest thing Singapore has to a universal walk-in door. Casework and counselling in most towns, no referral, no diagnosis required.

There are 49 Family Service Centres across Singapore, run by voluntary welfare organisations with Ministry of Social and Family Development and National Council of Social Service funding. One of them is near you.

They provide casework, counselling, information and referral, group work and community work, delivered by social work practitioners, for individuals and families dealing with social and emotional difficulty. Financial casework runs alongside the rest, in the same conversation, which is why they are often the most practical starting point when several things are wrong at once.

What they are not

They are not clinical psychotherapy services. Where someone needs specialised psychological treatment, the centre refers on. Knowing that in advance saves a disappointed first visit.

How to reach one

  • The centre locator and directories at msf.gov.sg, or SupportGoWhere.
  • ComCare hotline 1800 222 0000.
  • Walk in. No referral is required.

Operators include Allkin, AWWA, Care Corner, Fei Yue, Lakeside Family Centre, Montfort Care, PPIS, TRANS Family Services, Thye Hua Kwan Moral Charities, Viriya, SBL Vision and Yishun Family Service at Children’s Society, among others.
