An independent non-profit social service agency established in 2004. It is listed here because money worry and mental health travel together, and because the debt half of that problem has a practical route that many people do not know about.
Debt management talks are free. The debt management programme restructures unsecured debt across creditors into one repayment schedule, in partnership with the Association of Banks in Singapore and the Credit Association of Singapore. Eligibility is at least $10,000 of unsecured debt owed to two or more creditors, with capacity to repay by age 70.
Two things to understand before entering the programme: your existing credit facilities are cancelled for its duration, and participation is reported to Credit Bureau Singapore.
Credit Counselling Singapore does not provide mental health counselling. If both are in play, a Family Service Centre handles them in the same conversation.
